What is the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Program?

The Enugu Magic City Animation Training Program is a comprehensive educational initiative designed to equip Enugu youths with skills in 2D illustration and 3D Motion Design. Offering internationally recognized diploma courses, hands on training, and mentorship from industry professionals, this program prepares participants for successful careers in the creative industries.

Who can apply for the program?

The program is open to Nigerian youths from 16-45 years (employed or unemployed) with a passion for animation and storytelling. Applicants must be able to read and write and have access to a computer or laptop that meets the specified technical requirements.

What are the technical requirements for participants?

Participants need a computer or laptop with the following specifications: Processor: Core i7 10th Generation and above RAM: 16GB and above Free Disk Space: 16GB and above Graphics Card: Hardware-accelerated OpenGL Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11

Is a laptop mandatory?

Yes, having a laptop is mandatory for this program.

How long is the training program?

The training program runs for six (6) months, divided into: 3 months of coursework 3 months of project work Training sessions will be held three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), lasting three hours each. The program includes practical exercises, project-based learning, and a capstone project, providing participants with industry-standard software skills.

What are the specializations offered in the program?

Participants can choose from the following specializations: Specialization: 2D Illustration Description: Character design, storyboarding, and digital drawing techniques. Specialization: 3D Graphics Motion Description: Fundamentals of 3D modeling, animation, and rendering. Program Structure by Month: • Month 1: Introduction & Fundamentals • Month 2: Technical Intensive Training • Month 3: Project Work • Month 4: Capstone Project • Month 5: Introduction to AI Tools (MidJourney, Animaker, Powtoon, Vyond) • Month 6: Portfolio Development & Platform Onboarding

How many participants will be accepted into the program?

The program aims to train 400 youths.

What are the costs associated with the program?

The retail price for the program is ₦500,000 per participant. However, participants will pay a subsidized fee of ₦135,000, which represents a 73% discount.

What are the financial and assessment terms for the program fee?

Duration of Training: Six (6) months Total Loan Tenor: Twelve (12) months (including the 6-month training period) Retail Price per Participant: ₦500,000 Subsidized Training Fee: ₦135,000 (a 73% discount from the retail price) Equity Contribution for loan applicants: 26% of the Loan Value which is ₦35,100 (Thirty-Five Thousand One Hundred Naira Only). Repayment Terms for Loan applicants after equity contribution: 74% (after equity contribution) = ₦99,900 ₦1,850 (One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Naira Only) Weekly for 54 weeks or ₦8,325 (Eight Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty-Five Naira Only) Monthly for 12 Months. Interest Rate: Zero Percent (0%). No Interest Assessment Process: 1. Application Screening: Qualitative questions to assess background, motivation and to evaluate skills and aptitude. 2. Second-Level Assessment: Human Capital Development Loan requirement assessment for Loan Applicants. 3. Final Assessment: Shortlisting and Engaging successful candidates.

Magic Labs Academy is a globally renowned leader in creative skills training, with over a decade of experience in digital arts. Their alumni work at top companies like Pixar, Netflix, Google, and The New York Times. Additionally, they have partnered with organizations such as the Mastercard Foundation, Adobe, Disney, and Microsoft, offering students valuable internships, job placements, and networking opportunities. Magic Labs Academy is a sister company to Magic City Labs Limited.

What opportunities are available post-training?

Graduates will receive the following support: Instructor Access: Two months of continued guidance from instructors. Job Fair Participation: Connections with potential employers and industry leaders. Portfolio Development: Assistance in creating professional portfolios to showcase their skills. Platform Onboarding: Graduates will be onboarded onto platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, LinkedIn, and Giga for global job opportunities. Project Placement: The top 10% (approximately 40 students) will be offered project placements. Magic Lab City Project Initiatives: Participation in revenue-generating projects like YouTube content creation and job sourcing opportunities.

How do I apply for the program?

Applicants can apply online at www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/emat or visit the Enugu SME Center at No. 2a, Market Garden Avenue, Opposite Ebeano Tunnel Roundabout, GRA, Enugu.

What are the requirements to access the Human Capital Development Loan (HCDL)?

For the Applicant: • One (1) National ID (Driver’s License, National Passport, Voter’s Card, or NIN) • Three (3) passport photographs For the Guarantor: • One (1) National ID • Two (2) passport photographs • Undated cheque from a CBN-recognized bank (collateral)

Why is a guarantor cheque required for the HCDL?

The guarantor cheque is required as collateral, ensuring loan security without using significant personal assets. It complies with Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines.

What if I can’t get a guarantor but can pay upfront?

You can pay the training fee upfront. Notify us by emailing info@enugusme.ng with the subject “(Full Name) - EMAT Applicant Paying Directly.” Payment should be made to: Bank: Fidelity Bank Plc Account Name: Enugu SME Human Capital Loan Account Account Number: 5030120451

What if I cannot find a guarantor and cannot pay the complete amount upfront

In the case you cannot find guarantor, you can “SELF GUARANTEE” by providing for 50% equity contribution of N67,500 (Sixty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira Only) with the balance N67,500 (Sixty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira Only) spread across the six (6) months of the training program. This comes out to N11,250 (Eleven Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira Only) monthly or N2,812.50 (Two Thousand, Eight hundred and Twelve Naira, Fifty Kobo) weekly

What happens if I decide to drop out of the program?

If you are selected but decide to drop out, you will be considered to have defaulted. You are still required to repay your loan if accessed. Refunds are not available for upfront payments.
